Val's day

I know it's a little while yet until Valentine's Day, but I thought I would write a post with regards to the way that I think Val's Day ought to be celebrated. Your thoughts may, differ but this method is great for the hip pocket and much more intimate than being shoved into a restaurant for a set menu and then hurried out so they can fill your table again.

My husband and I are a 'no presents couple' when it comes to Val's Day. We consider it a Hallmark holiday where companies will prod your inner sappy bone and get you to spend copious amounts of money on junk. We spend it on the couch with a gourmet Italian pizza and a great bottle of red, great conversation...and give each other an appreciative card. The card is preferably non-Valentine themed, well designed, or handmade. By the way, a toilet roll card is not acceptable, only if it looks like this.

I found some great ideas for handmade Val's Day cards and special little things posted by Design Sponge over the past few days by two little businesses, one called Emersonmade (who I think I have featured before) and the other Hellohandmadepaperie.

Check out a couple of their clever ideas below and visit their sites (linked above) for more.
